Component Verification

Today we’re talking about component verification using X-ray systems.

What if you have something inside of a container that you can’t see, but you want to make sure that it’s there? For example: you’ve probably seen many foil top packages. As a producer, you may have valuable components inside; you can’t see through the foil once it’s sealed, but you need to make sure the valuable component is there. Well, an X-ray system is perfect for this application – the X-ray will see through the film and, lo and behold, they’ll be able to show you every single product or component that’s sealed inside the package.

So if you’ve got a valuable product that you want to do component verification on, an X-ray system is perfect. And the systems can even count the number of objects in a package if necessary.

If you imagine a stack of crackers, today’s X-ray systems can tell whether there are five or six crackers in the stack. A check-weigh system could never do that – as the name suggests, they can only check the weight of packaged products, but they can’t count components or see inside of them.
